pipe dreams

Should I smoke?
If I must, then dear god, please grant me the power to smoke like a woman, elegantly, with long painted nails and manicured hands wrapped around this most phallic of man's poisons.

You blessed kid. Haven't seen too many chipped and chewed nails, have we? Or nicotine-yellowed dry chappy fingers? Elegant and long-nailed, indeed.

A word from the ancient, though: if you must smoke, not tobacco, okay? Something less damaging, and easier to kick.

I dont smoke cause I like the pain and I like the ocassional peace. And I want to feel all of it. Plus, theres always Robert Plant, my confessor, who satiates my need for that certain high, whenever I wish to escape.
PS. If you seek the power to smoke like a woman, you throw yourself open to the possibility of God considering the idea of turning you gay. ahah.

damn Melon. I thought we were beginning to discover soulmates here, and then you wish to turn gay. My life, I tell you, is pure sadness. :p Oh btw, got that song from VU. Now I get the doo ahhh that you did. Plus, Kawabata's 'Beauty and Sadness' is pure magic. Im currently drowning in the potent poetry of its prose. P.S. So totally apologise fer messing up your comments section, but well, you have no mail account, so cannot blame me, can you? :p

Mm. I have this very glittering image of smoking in my mind. It looks something like Audrey Hepburn. And even though I have never, ever seen anyone smoke like that in my life - I just ignore the wizened over-tanned women on the street with 90's style cutoff sweatshirts & jeans.

is it the phallic-ness of it or the fingernails that attract you?

tut tut. you musn't trifle with Aaki like that.

nice to read you again, mon ami ...

my thoughts: tobacco is awful, but smoke continues to be romantic, n'est-ce pas?! i love the pauses it facilitates during story-telling ... and the way smoke plays with light ...

pray tell: i'm completely new to japanese literature (but ADORE Salinger's love of it, and am EAGER to dabble) ... where shall i begin??

awww aaki, just kidding !

starry, the fingernails, the hands, NOT the phallic-ness :)

natalie, hmmmmm audrey hepburn. now there's a thought.

hereis, i couldn't place you for a second, and then i figured - the quantum physics guy! nice to see you around.
I began with Haruki Murakami's 'Norwegian Wood'. As good a book as any you'll ever read.

sweetums, i don't actually mind the city. but i see it as keeping me away from home and dragging me down. and making me unhappy.

there are those that see home as a dead end town. perhaps. but it's still mine. {like bangalore will never be.}
